The Third
Wave* is the fact. The times when we thought that when disaster happens
far away it does not happen to us.
Today,
since we live in “Global Village”* good and bad things happen to us.
We need
to save Japan not only for people in Japan, but also for the world. Can
you imagine world without Japan? What cars we would drive, what
electronics we would use, what medical equipment we would use, how our
children would live without Pokeman. Who would inspire us to live the
happiest, the healthiest and the longest life on the planet while facing
so many challenges of growing civilization?
“The
Japanese Way” always amazes me: how Japanese people live during peace
times and disasters. During my first visit in Japan I observed that
Japanese people experience everything that is still ahead of us and
found many good solutions for that how to live in overcrowded cities,
how to connect tradition with progress, history with the future,
advancement in technology with respect for nature.
Maybe
that respect for nature helps them to overcome and find solutions on how
to deal with natural disasters.
This time
Japanese people are really hurting: missing a lot of intellectuals,
interrupted production, shortage of energy supply. We can help by
continuously buying their products. I was asked already: How previous
disasters – Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing may have affected Japanese
agriculture products?
The
answer then and now is the same: Japanese Peoples’ ethics does not
permit to sell us products that are contaminated or of lower standards.
